Susan Brownrigg with her books

Hi! I'm Susan Brownrigg.

I write historical adventures for children aged 8 to 12.

My Gracie Fairshaw series was described as "one of the best children’s mystery series currently on the shelves" by External link opens in new tab or windowPam Norfolk, Lancashire Evening Post.

My debut children's book, Gracie Fairshaw and the Mysterious Guest, is a seaside mystery set in Blackpool.

"Satisfyingly sprinkled with clues to sniff out, this is a timeless, accessible and well-paced mystery with bags of atmosphere." External link opens in new tab or windowBookTrust

My second book is Kintana and the Captain's Curse - a pirate treasure hunt with magic and lemurs set on the Madagascar island of Nosy Boraha.

My third book - Gracie Fairshaw and the Trouble at the Tower was published on October 7th, 2021. It was longlisted in the Historical Association's Young Quills 2022 awards.

Book Blogger, External link opens in new tab or windowLily and the Fae, described the book as "A perfect blend of socio-historical observation, thrilling mystery and holiday cheer."

My fourth book, Gracie Fairshaw and the Missing Reel was published on March 7th, 2024. Book blogger, External link opens in new tab or windowMrs Sydney, described it as "a gentle mystery, perfect for fans of Robin Steven's Murder Most Unladylike books."

Signed copies of Gracie Fairshaw and the Missing Reel are available from Ebb and Flo Bookshop, Gillibrand Street, Chorley and the Aunty Social shop, Topping Street, Blackpool.

I am also a member of Time Tunnellers - a group of five historical children's book authors (myself, Barbara Henderson, Robin Scott-Elliot, Ally Sherrick and Matthew Wainwright) who along with guest authors provide free video content to help primary school teachers bring history alive in the classroom.

Every Thursday in term time we explore a different history theme with a linked writing challenge for pupils on our External link opens in new tab or windowyoutube channel and then we delve deeper into the topic with our External link opens in new tab or windowblog. We focus on local history, world events and curriculum subjects.
